We got a later than usual start today. I needed to stop over at the Harley Dealer to exchange some parts and get an oil change. I got there at 8:30 (they open at 9am) and there was already 6 people waiting for them to open the door. As soon as the guy turned the key I bolted to the desk and was first in line. I had an appointment, but that doesn't seem to matter and I was taking no chances. They took the bike in right away. I waited and waited and at 10:30 I was starting to wonder if they were ever going to finish. We were due to check out of the hotel at 11am. When they finally pulled it out at 10:45 it was cleaner and shinier. The guy also washed my gloves for me. Nice gesture but I would have rather gotten started a 1/2 hour earlier.

I went back over to the hotel and loaded all my gear. Jon had been ready to go since 8:00. We left the hotel at around 11:30am headed for Beaver Creek, Yukon.

We had good roads for about an hour or so, but the closer we got to Canada the worse the roads got. We ran into another muck road, the bikes were squirreling all over the place. I was determined not to repeat my fall from Saturday. That kind of riding REALLY wears you out.

We continued on and on and had not stopped for gas since before dinner last night. At the Girsle River bridge Jon asked how I was on gas. I figured another 50 miles or so (we had already gone 130). Unfortunately the next gas stations were in Tok, AK which was 85 miles away. I kept watching the needle move closer and closer to empty and crossed my fingers that I had enough to get there. I slowed the pace down a bit in hopes that it would stretch the tank just a little further. When the odemter read 210 miles I was crossing my fingers and all my toes for another 5 miles. We made it, whew, and when I filled up it was 5.015 gals of gas. I might have gotten another 5 miles.

After filling at Tok, it was another 110 miles to Beaver Creek and Ida's Roadside motel. We arrived at Ida's at 7:00pm (we lost an hour due to time zone changes). Grilled ham and cheese with fries for dinner and Cherry Pie Ala-Mode for dessert. A couple of beers apiece and we are spent. Time to finish this paperwork and hit the rack.
