Monday & Tuesday -June 23 & 24

I was riding in an 'Honoring Their Service' parade for the marines on Monday so I gave the labor a day off. Brandon came by to wait for a delivery truck with the insulation for the building. He arrived around 9:30 and the truck didn't arrive untill after 11:00.

On Tuesday I started the guys to work adding the bracing in the roof beams while Brandon and I consulted the plans for how to lay down the bottom moulding for the side panels. I also had a couple of conversations with the building broker about the issue with the girts and stub columns on the face of the building.

Rather than fight with tin snips on the mouldings we decided to try out my plasma cutter to see if that was easier. It certainly was AND I got to do all the cutting. I first cut the bottom girts that rest on the concrete floor between the garage door columns and the side walls. It's amazing how well the plasma cutter works. For the bottom moulding we notched the first piece and cut holes for the anchors. After that one was installed and we knew what we were doing I started punching the anchor bolt holes while they measured the notches I needed to cut. They would then take the piece and I would start on the next one. With a short break for a rain shower, we had all of the bottom moulding down in an hour or so.

I got a call back from Eddie (my building broker) asking for more measurements and dimensions for the problems on the front of the building. I told him to have the manufacturer call me direct and we could get this all fixed in a hurry. Instead of waiting for him, I called the building manufacturer myself and talked with the lady that was dealing with the problem. She asked for a few measurements, which we did while she was on the phone. She still has to pass all of this through the draftsmen but I think we'll get the right parts. She said she would have to call Eddie and I told her PLEASE call him. The hard part was working through a middle man that couldn't visualize the problem even with photographs.
