8/21/2014 - Re-stack wood, bathroom door trim and paint.

I decided it was finally time to re-locate the ugly pile of wood outside the attached garage. There were several 12 foot 2x8 boards we used as forms when we poured the slab. They had been sitting in the yard under a tarp for almost 2 months and it was time to clean up. There were also several pieces of 2x10 that we had used to form up the French drain at the end of the driveway. Those boards were worthless because they had to be split and beat on to get them out of the drain. The good wood was pressure treated and I re-stacked it on a skid at the front of the garage. The bad stuff got cut into 18-20 inch chunks and tossed on the burn pile behind the garage. The tractor bucket came in really handy for moving the wood around.

Brandon and Leroy were going to work over at the lake house today, but Leroy had to take a day to deal with family issues. Since he couldn't do the lake house alone Brandon decided to use the time to trim out the inside of the bathroom door. I had gotten the materials yesterday so we had everything we needed. We had to rip the filler trim for the inside edge, that went just fine, good fit. We were going to use my electric brad nailer to attach the wood, but there wasn't enough oomph to drive the brads into the wood. Probably because of the 200 feet of extension cords and all of the other electric running on one circuit. We resorted to old school technology and used a hammer and nails. We cut the inside trim miters and everything looked like we knew what we were doing. Just before lunch Justin stopped in for a visit. He had an Oak tree to cut up that had fallen in someones yard. Brandon asked if I wanted the wood and I said 'Hell Yeah'.

Brandon and I went out to Lowe's to get some paint for the trim and door and to get some lunch. The Lowe's trip turned out to be over $300, but we got a lot of electrical parts that we needed and will use later. After we ate, Brandon went to work with the paint brush and I went back to cutting up scrap wood for the burn pile. Every time I take the tractor out back I do a little more grading in preperation for grass seed. I'm trying to make a smooth enough slope that I can mow without scalping once I have grass. I also spent some time weeding out rocks and left over asphalt chunks that make grading a pain.

After I finished with the wood I installed a 2 circuit quad box next to the breaker box in the welding area. It wasn't difficult, but there was no air in that corner and it was hot. Justin got back with a truck load of cut Oak wood. We eventually unloaded and stacked that wood at the front of the building. It should give me a start for the winter season.

Hopefully I'll get electric service soon and I can call for my final inspection.
