9/5/2014 - Carport Wall trim, finish wiring.

When Brandon and Leroy got in this morning I showed Leroy my handy work on the new breakers I had installed for the East side quad box. He mentioned that the breakers I had installed were Arc Fault breakers, not Ground Fault. I decided that rather than try to find Ground Fault breakers I would replace the outlets with GFCI outlets. That required that I replace the first box on the West side with a plastic box so the cover plate would fit. I ran off to Lowe's to return the 4 Arc Fault breakers and pick up the parts needed to rewire for GFI protection.

I figured because we needed to return the scissor lift on Monday, Brandon and Leroy could use it to install the trim pieces on the wall at the carport whre we put the blue foam board. I was gone about an hour and was surprised when I returned that they had just finished the first piece. That was OK because the eave struts require some very complicated cuts to get the piece to fit. They had to make some cardboard templates to get the fit right before thay started cutting the limited metal pieces.

While they continued on with the trim, I started rewiring for the GFI outlets. The East side was easy because I just had to replace the outlets and swap the breakers out. The West side required a little more work because I had to swap the box out with a plastic one and then install the GFI outlets. I also had to determine which wires were line and which were load for 2 circuits. While I made up a shorting plug for the load side so I could test continuity, Leroy shorted the line side at the breaker box. We had continuity on all of the wires, Leroy snipped his shorts at the breaker box and we wired the outlets. We went to test after the breaker box got wired and one circuit tripped right away. Oops, I forgot to unplug my load shorting wire. Everything tested good and we could now plug stuff into the wall on the West side (fewer extension cords).

We decided to work tomorrow (Saturday) to get the drain grates painted and do some general clean-up.
