We spent the night in Rockford, IL. While we were there, I figured I would check out the old neighborhoods from when I was in K-3rd grades. It was strange seeing the old houses.
Heading North on I-39 there was heavy truck traffic most of the way.
We were about an hour out of St. Paul, MN when the expense of the CB on the bike was paid for. There was a big accident further on that was going to be a 3 hour clean-up so we decided to detour. Heading North on 25 in Wisconsin in search of 64 West into Stillwater, MN. GREAT roads!! Rolling hills with curves and dotted lines for passing. Best part of the ride so far.
Across the St. Croix river was Stillwater, MN. We stopped to take pictures of the neat bridge we just crossed. The water was only a foot or so from swamping the bridge. We met a local older couple that gave us the whole story behind the bridge and the little local park that was partially submerged.
Another 12 miles to the Great Bear Lake Best Western and we were done for the day. We started the day at 55 degrees in Rockford and ended at 86 degrees in St. Paul, MN.
