Since there was no Continental Breakfast at the hotel in Kenora we decided to just hit the road. We started at around 7:15am for a 420 mile ride to Yorkton, SK. After about an hour we stopped for gas and a couple of eggs for breakfast. The guy who runs the place spends his winters in Cocoa Beach, FL. Small world.
We stopped in Winnipeg for a butt break. The roads sucked, and there was housing construction EVERYWHERE. After the butt break we tried to get back on the highway but Jon's GPS gave us a sample of the unpaved gravel secondary roads for 5 miles until we found our way back to the highway.
I hope the Dalton Highway is that nice.
For lunch we broke down and stopped at a Micky D's. We asked a local guy what all of the bright yellow plants were that we had been seeing. We were informed that they are Conola. The purple ones are Flax.
Jon and I decided to swap bikes for an hour or so just to see what the other guy's ride was all about. We made a quick stop after a few miles so Jon could put in his ear plugs.
Later on we swapped back and then at the next gas stop, opted for an afternoon root beer float from A&W.
We arrived in Yorkton at around 4:30. Nine hours on the road.
