Leaving Norfolk Nebraska at around 6:45 we headed East on NE 275. Not one of the smoothest roads we've encountered, but still better than Canadian roads. I wonder if they used the same engineering handbooks?
We rode into Omaha where we took a brief side trip to visit my old neighborhood from 40 years ago. Although I remembered a lot of it, street names and such, it had changed considerably. The trees have gotten so big! The address used to be on the outskirts of western Omaha. When we rode in it seemed like miles and miles before we reached my old neighborhood. The only old neighborhhod I've missed on the trip was Amick Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. It was too far out of the way to be a practical visit.
After visiting the old neighborhood we headed South on I-29 towards Kansas City. There was a lot of truck traffic today. After a couple of gas/butt stops and an early lunch break at McDonalds along the way we were in Kansas City, MO. Once through Kansas City we were headed East on I-70 and stopped for Ice Cream after passing 20 miles beyond our scheduled stop for the day. It was still early enough that we decided to ride on for another hour or so. We wound up in Boonville, MO at a Holiday Inn Express. I feel smarter already. Arby's for dinner tonite.
We should be back at Jon's on Sunday afternoon.
