8/29/2014 - Electricity
I had called Blue Ridge Electric yesterday to find out when they had me scheduled for installation. Susan told me that if the crew finished their work they'd be here on Friday. Well, Friday came and the crew was here at 7:30am to hook me up.
They parked the truck at the street and unloaded the excavator. The engineer that came out earlier in the week had asked the neighbor if they could use his property to access the pole. He refused so they had to work from my side.
The excavator made short work of digging a ditch about two feet deep. He had to dig half and then reposition because they couldn't use the neighbors property. They got the wires buried and started installing the conduit up the pole.
They didn't want to bring the big truck onto the new concrete, I guess they didn't want to break it, so they used the teeth on the bucket to hold the conduit against the pole while they nailed the clamps in place. Because they couldn't use the bucket truck to access the transformer the installer would have to climb the pole to hook the wires up. The installer wasn't real happy about that but got the job done. They had to shut the neighbors electricity off for about 15 minutes while he attached my wires to the transformer. He was really glad to be back on the ground. They were packed up and gone by 9:00am. Now I can disconnect the extension cord from the attached garage.
